Why England?

We have both had a interest in Europe and its history for many years. England is in the midst of social and spiritual problems that can only be healed by the Gospel.

It is an extremely diverse nation of 51 million people, although 28% of Britain follows no particular religion. Less than 2% of Western Europe (not just England) profess a vital relationship with Jesus Christ, and less than 2% of those are under the age of 30.  A heartbreaking, eye- opening statistic is 96% of children in the UK will grow up without any exposure to the church or its message.  That’s the future of this country, if God doesn’t intervene!

Europe is the only continent in the world where Christianity is declining.  About 7% of the population attend some type of church, although studies show that 7,600 people leave the church every day in the west.   The average age of churchgoers is 45 years old.

When you go into any town in the UK you see lots of steeples.  You think “Wow, look at all the churches!”  At a closer look, you see that those beautiful, old buildings intended for worship of Christ are now turned into nightclubs, bars, office buildings, apartments, Hindu temples and sports facilities.  Its a shocking sight!

Without the Gospel there is a tremendous break down of the family.  In 2007, there were only 231,450 weddings, in which two-thirds of those were civil ceremonies.  Also, about 50% of the infants born were out of wedlock.

That’s why England.  They are in desperate need of a transformation that can only come from the Gospel.
